It's official! Sacramento: here we come!

Well, James and I just gave notice at work and to our landlord. We will be moving to Sacramento in 2-3 weeks, depending on when we can get into a house up there! I'll be working at a civil litigation firm and James will (fingers crossed) being doing government, regulatory affairs and/or legislative work.
We are so excited for the big move and I can't wait to actually have 4 seasons! James thinks I'm going to be way too cold all the time. But we'll see. I love that you can look to the east and see the snow-capped mountains of Lake Tahoe; it's only 99 miles away. And San Francisco, Napa Valley, and Oakland (Raiders) are all close too. I think that's what James is most excited about- being able to get season tickets to the Raiders!

Sick Day!

Well, so much for billing 9 hours a day and walking every morning this week! We've been up since 4am with Harrison. He's got a fever and probably a small ear infection. Poor guy! And he doesn't know why he feels so bad. But we are just relaxing and drinking plenty of fluids and he feels better already! We're watching Spiderman right now, and I'm sure Pirates and Star Wars will follow!

Whatta weekend!

Wow- this last weekend just flew by! James' birthday was Monday, so we spent the whole weekend celebrating! Except for the fact that both the Chargers and Brett Favre lost on Sunday- the weekend was tremendous!
We ate at way too many restaurants and did not get enough exercise. But we did get plenty of relaxation in. It was also great that my Dad congratulated James on turning 30 and James got to reassure my him that he was, in fact, still in his 20's! At least for one more year, anyway. Next year is going to have to be a blow-out birthday party, to distract James from turning 30- he's already dreading it!

Now....Harrison is back in school, after being "off-track" for 5 weeks! And I could not be happier! Life is so much easier with that school routine. I'm really not sure if I'm a fan of the year-round school yet. It's great that he doesn't have 3 months off during the summer, I think that's good for his mental ability to learn fluidly. And Harrison doesn't know the difference because we've always had him in year-round, so he doesn't really know the significance of "summer vacation". But it's harder on parents I think, to find day care for that length of time during the off-track periods.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and is staying warm and dry wherever you may be around the country!

Fun with the Photo Booth at Mom's house

Haha. Last night we discovered the "photo booth" on my mom's Mac computer. It was so much fun to take these very silly pictures. Check them out! I need to get a Mac- this was too much fun!

This was mirror mode, and also what we would look like if we were aliens!

Oh my gosh- We keep looking at this picture and cracking up! It was on the shrink mode and anything in the middle of the screen got really small! I should have stood in front of it to be thin!

These were done under the "colored pencil" and "comic book" settings. We really liked these ones.

These were really cool too. I like the four squares and the great bright colors. I may have these printed and framed for my office or the home for fun.

TGIF and go Chargers!

Wow am I glad the weekend is almost here!? What a week- it's hard getting back into the swing of things after such a busy holiday season. It's nice to be back at my desk and have work to do- but it was a bit overwhelming catching up on everything I missed over the holidays.

Not only did I have that to deal with- but James and I have been feverishly trying to land jobs up in the Sacramento area. Which means flying up to interviews at the last minute, holding phone interviews on our cell phones and searching for homes in between everything else! But, keep your fingers crossed for us- with any luck will be up there by March 1st! The main reason for the move to Sacramento is that James has always wanted to become involved in politics and legislation. The jobs he is interviewing for are with the various state departments, lobbying or legislating issues and such. I'm just looking for a plain-old private sector litigation job. And I'm hopping to gain enough experience doing that to be able to become a law school professor eventually. Not to mention take a few years off to have little ones. It's a busy life and we are loving it!

Hope everyone had a great week and is rooting for the Chargers this weekend against the Colts!! Go Bolts!

So far, so good...

Okay: we have had Sammie for a week now and he seems to be doing very well! The only mishap was the first night, when he peed on my pillow! I threw those out and have new ones and Sammie sleeps on his own bed now, so everything seems to be working out alright! No accidents and he is happy to stay home by himself during the day. He is getting along great with Harrison as well and loves to play fetch.

We are taking him on his first "road trip" this weekend, so we'll see how he does in the car for a long trip. I'll keep ya updated.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

The (tentatively) newest addition to the Snyder Family this year is Sammie! He is a pug puppy, probably about 1 year old that James' mother rescued. He is as sweet as can be and loves to play with Harrison. We met him this weekend and fell in love with him, so we're trying him out for a little while! I'm feeling a bit guilty as his new mom though because I have to leave him in the kitchen all day when I'm at work! But he has toys and his bed and I'm sure he'll be fine (I keep telling myself!) We'll most likely be getting him a buddy when we get the chance: James REALLY wants an English bulldog and they get along great with pugs. It's so nice to have this new energy in our home too. He keeps us on our toes and is a very great cuddle bug. Thanks again Kimberly for bringing him into our home!
