I have more cavities than my 8 year old!

I've known James for 5 years (almost to the exact day). In all of that time, never once have I gone to the dentist!
I don't know why- I just never needed to. I had dental insurance, it wasn't a matter of the money.
I just have good teeth- thanks Dad!
But I went this morning to the dentist- my conscious got the better of me- if I'm forcing Harrison to go every 6 months, I might want to force myself also.
I was expecting the usual tirade about how I don't floss enough, or I should be using an electric toothbrush, and I have gingivitis....bla, bla, bla.

BUT it turns out that my gums are totally health- thank you very much. However, I do have THREE CAVITIES! How is that possible? Harrison doesn't even have one cavity and he eats candy every chance he gets!
Hmm...maybe I should be flossing ever day like they told me to years ago....

Finally...with a few pictures.

So I guess I didn't take as many pictures as I thought I took last weekend- but just to show what an absolutely beautiful day in La Jolla it was, here are just a few ones at Seal Cove. Awww...

And here- Gretchen is reading me books! When did she get so old!

Me + Sewing = ????

So, Harrison joined the local Cub Scouts pack and is way excited about it. We are just in time for the big Blue & Gold celebration next month. James is so happy to have 15 more opportunities to go camping- so it's working out...
Well, at least I thought it was a great idea until I remembered that boy scouts do things to earn badges....and badges are suppose to be displayed on their uniforms...and usually the badges have to be sewn onto the uniforms....
Hm- do they make iron-on badges?

Updated: 5-day weekend! (now with pictures!)

Thanks to my lovely (and secure) state job- I have a 5-day weekend right now! My parents were generous enough to fly me down to San Diego, and my husband was loving enough to have me leave him alone on Valentines' Day!

I did bring my camera, and have not taken a single picture since I've been here and I leave tomorrow! But today is La Jolla and the ballet tonight- so I'll take some pictures to update my post soon.
It's really just be eating, shopping, eating, shopping- none stop since I've been here! Gotta love malls and great restaurants here in San Diego! There's no place like it.

I'll update with cute pictures soon! Happy Valentine's Day- take advantage of the love in your life!
Okay- here's the pictures I promised- La Jolla Cove was perfect! What a lovely day it was!

The last visit from the Tooth Fairy....

Harrison lost his LAST BABY TOOTH yesterday, eating a corn of cobb at Chilli's! Yeah, taking a big bite out of corn will definitely make the tooth come out.

So we wrapped it in a big napkin and he put it under his pillow last night before he went to bed.
The thing is....the tooth fairy didn't come! What?! She didn't come? Well, she must have thought that the napkin was a kleenex full of snot or something gross- so she didn't take it! Well, tonight we will put the tooth in a plastic baggie so she can see that there's a tooth in there. Hopefully she'll take it this time.
We'll keep our fingers crossed (and our alarm clocks set....)

Singing in the Shower

As I'm checking the blogs of my family and friends, Harrison is in the next room over taking a shower. Actually, "taking" a shower is a bit of an understatement- lately everything this kid has done, he's done with some extra "umph". Like right now, he's completely belting out this opera at the top of his lungs and he's making up his own words as he goes along.

Oh....he's about to walk around the corner still singing and he doesn't know I'm hear listening....wait for it....

(he's singing "frosty the snow man" as he hangs up his towel...)

HHHHAAAA, he just saw me! Oh, his eyes almost popped out of his head, that was too funny. He had no idea anyone was listening to him sing opera in the shower. I've got to record him doing that, before his voice can't go that high anymore!
And one last thing- the other day he asked James the following question (I almost started crying!):

Harrison: "Dad"
James: "yeah bud"
Harrison: "Can you teach me everything you know?"

It was a humbling moment for me. That's such a huge responsibilty, isnt it?
